If you are looking into or have recently installed kitchen cabinetry to your new kitchen remodel, you know how expensive the cabinets can be. Therefore, you likely won’t want to go under construction again anytime soon. So, it’s very important to know how to take care of your kitchen cabinetry for a long time! And, they’ll also retain their beauty for a long time with proper care and maintenance.
Laminate Kitchen Cabinetry Maintenance
Laminate kitchen cabinetry is a popular choice for those who use their kitchens a lot or have a lot of little children because of their natural, durable characteristics. However, not even the strong laminates are completely invincible to damage and will require some maintenance to keep them looking nice. Every two weeks or so, use a dust rag to wipe down the cabinets. Afterward, using a laminate-approved liquid cleaner, wipe down the cabinets with a damp rag or towel. This will help clean off any stains that have occurred or dried onto the kitchen cabinetry, as well as eliminate any potentially harmful bacteria or germs that may be residing there.
Any and All Other Types of Kitchen Cabinetry
Not all people opt for the easy maintenance of laminate kitchen cabinets and instead prefer other types of kitchen cabinetry such as wood cabinets. While these may not be as low-maintenance as laminates, they are still easy to clean as long as you are careful. For example, making sure that the surrounding kitchen environment is suitable for other types of kitchen cabinetry is key for keeping them in good shape. This means not having too much moisture inside the kitchen at once. Make sure if boiling water or cooking on the stove at high temperatures to always turn on the oven vent or hood vent. That way, the excess moisture will not be stuck onto the kitchen cabinetry, which can cause severe damage over time. Another very important step in maintaining the effectiveness and look of your kitchen cabinets is to never use abrasive cleaning products such as bleach, ammonia, acetone, or sharp cleaning objects like magic erasers or metal wool pads. These can either wear down the finishing on your kitchen cabinetry, either leaving it discolored or unprotected from further damage, or cause irreversible physical damage like scratches and cuts into the materials of the cabinets. Lastly, if you don’t have anti-slam cabinets installed, make sure to always close the cabinet doors gently to prevent any damage to the doors or hinges.
