A temporary kitchen doesn’t have to be elaborate. Instead, focus on the necessities and the kitchen items that you most commonly use. Set up your temporary kitchen in the garage, or, if space allows, in the living room. Common temporary kitchen items include an electric kettle, a microwave, a hot plate, pots, pans, and storage containers. If you don’t have access to your refrigerator during the remodel, consider a mini-fridge.
Go Outside
Remodeling the kitchen is a great excuse to use your grill or outdoor dining space! Summertime is coming to an end, but the fall season in Maryland is mild and enjoyable. You don’t have to stick with hot dogs and hamburgers to savor a grilled meal! Try a new recipe, like vegetarian kabobs or even pizza! If you don’t have a grill or outdoor kitchen, invest in a camping cook stove.
Plan Ahead
If you have a freezer in your basement or garage, make a few large meals before the kitchen remodel and freeze them in small portions. By freezing meals ahead of time, you can defrost them in your miniature kitchen or outdoor space. If you want access to a full kitchen, call a friend or family member! There’s no better time to catch up with an old friend in their kitchen than during your kitchen remodel. Bring a dish to his or her house in exchange for using the kitchen!
